5 Whistler Coffee Shops That Are Not Starbucks

It doesn't take a keen eye to notice how any Starbucks there are in Whistler. On the 1KM Whistler Village Stroll starting at the base of Whistler Village Gondola, you pass three. Yes, you read that right, you pass THREE Starbucks in 10 minutes of walking. And I can't forget to mention there is also a fourth in Creekside!

Just to be clear, this is not a "hate on Starbucks" thread, I love Starbucks. I've been a Gold Member for years. Nothing beats thier Bacon & Gouda Egg Sandwich for breakfast when you're on the run. Okay moving on...

For a world-class resort, Whistlerites do a great job pushing residents & tourists to shop locally. I am stoked to share with you my top 5 favourite local coffee shops you must try:

Fix Cafe at Nita Lake Lodge

Fix Cafe is a cozy, intimate coffee shop haven with no shortage on the aesthetics. I love to go to Fix Cafe just to immerse myself in the surroundings & decor. It feels like you've been swept away from ski-bum Whistler life and are transported to a posh, slope-side cafe in a small European mountain town. The coffee is top notch gourmet, and all the bread and pastries are made in-house by the talented culinary team. Grab a coffee, a ranger cookie (the best), and a copy of this weeks edition of The Pique and kick back for a while. You won't regret it.

Camp Lifestyle & Coffee

More than just a coffee shop, Camp is a beautiful store focused on all things mountain with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. The whole store is like walking into a display home, it's absolutely gorgeous and every single details is well thought of. It's hard to just pop in for a coffee without walking out with a few new decor or clothing pieces! The staff at the espresso bar are all super knowledge in their niche and have a obvious passion for coffee. They are true coffee connoisseurs. Don't pass Function Junction on your way in (or out!) of Whistler without checking out Camp.

Blenz Coffee Whistler

Blenz Whistler is like a second home. The cafe has epic views of Whistler & Blackcomb mountains, and the friendliest staff in town. There is a good amount of indoor & outdoor seating to get work done, or to just hang out with a cup of coffee. I recommend grabbing a window seat if you're solo for some good people watching. But my favourite signature from Blenz is you can choose your hot chocolate or mocha three ways - white, milk, or dark chocolate. They melt real chocolate with steamed milk (or in my case, almond milk) to create extra rich and creamy drinks.

Mount Currie Coffee Co.

If voted time and time again as "Whistler's Best Coffee" isn't enough to get you in the shop, I am telling you now, go to Mount Currie Coffee. I hear from a lot of tourists that it isn't a trip to Whistler without a stop at this little local shop. Already loving the coffee, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the food is just equally as delicious. Everything is locally sourced and made by the lovely kitchen staff. As true meat lover, I was hesitant to try the local's favourite "Ultimate Veggie" wrap, but this tasty, fully loaded warp is what keeps me coming back over & over again.

Peaked Pies | Australian Bakery Cafe

Okay this one is technically not a coffee shop, but is too good to keep off the list. Not only do the Aussies make really good meat pies, they also know their coffee. The statement I hear most often from Australian friends is how much they miss their coffee back home. Peaked Pies fills this void with smooth coffees, warm, savoury pies & tasty Australian treats (try a lamington!). Did I miss your favourite? Tell me in the comments below!
